MY WHY…
Photography is simply being able to taste life twice.
I realized my why, more so, after my father passed away.
I tend to take a lot of photos when I’m with family, and the last years of my father’s life my brother was the hardest person to get to stand in the photos with us. He did it, BUT he grumbled and groaned while making a few comments under his breath, EVERY single time.
When my father passed away my brother pulled me aside, weeks after the funeral with tears in his eyes, and said, ‘I’m so glad you ‘made’ me get in photos with dad. If it would have been up to me, I wouldn’t have many with dad and me together.’
Since then, my brother jumps in photos without hesitation. He smiles big, and pretty, with no grumbling under his breath.
THIS truly has been my why all along… memories captured remind us of the special people, places, and events in our life. They are a reminder of the memories that make us laugh, and sometimes even bring tears to our eyes. They remind us where we came from, and give us a hint of where we’re going.
Isn’t it grand to be able to taste life twice!!
